Beware of Downloads

Have you been surfing the web when a helpful box appears, informing you that to continue effectively you should permit the site to download and install something on your computer?

If you simply click “yes” to deal with the intrusive offer, you may be downloading spyware or worse. Don’t! Before agreeing to download anything, write down the name of the software in question and do some research.

Go to www.google.com, type in the name of the software offered and the word “problems.” Investigate a link or two to see what those problems are, realizing that your computer’s continued smooth operation is worth a few minutes reading time.
