Outlook and Outlook Express
Closing the Preview Pane in
|
|
Microsoft’s Outlook and Outlook Express can inadvertently help
viruses get a foothold on your computer.
If your Inbox displays a “preview” of each
selected email at the bottom of the window, then you are using
a feature called the Preview Pane. Unfortunately, the Preview
Pane’s ability to display the contents of your email also
gives viruses a chance to come to life as soon as the email is
selected. To remedy this possibility, simply turn the Preview
Pane off. 1. In Outlook, select View from the
menu at the top of the window, then click Preview Pane. This
deactivates the Preview Pane.
2. In Outlook Express, select View from the menu at the top of
the window, then click Layout. In the control box that
appears, click to remove the checkmark from the Show Preview
Pane box.
